Symposium on JPII’s Theology of the Body

This April, St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill will host a Theology of the Body book club over Zoom.  Join fellow parishioners as we read and discuss “Theology of the Body Explained:  A Commentary on John Paul II’s Man and Woman He Created Them“.  The parish has a limited number of books available.  If you are interested in participating in the book club, please contact parishioner Karen Granger at

From 1979 to 1984, in the course of 129 general audience addresses, Pope John Paul II laid out his most significant theological contribution to the world — what is now known as “Theology of the Body”.  This theological contribution comes at a time of great pastoral need.  Set out into deeper water and enter into the dialogue as we discuss this timely, capacious, and joyful teaching on the dignity of each and every human person and God’s love for us.  We will meet Thursday evenings during April and May from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The schedule is below:

  • Thursday, 4/8          Prologue
  • Thursday, 4/15      Part I, Cycle
